Walk a Mile in Layla's Shoes

It is that time again - The Annual Flora Women's Mini Marathon takes place on bank holiday Monday June 4, 2012 at 3:00 pm. This year, MRCI's Team Migrants Rights will bring together 75 women from all over the world to walk, jog, run and raise funds for MRCI.

Labour Party Conference Supports Regularisation of Undocumented Migrants in Ireland


MRCI welcomes the Labour Party conference motion to support the Regularisation of undocumented migrants in Ireland. Sunday 15th April, a motion put forward by dublin South Central constituency Council got unanimous support. 


This is a significant step in realising the human rights and dignity of undocumented men, women and children living in Ireland.

Fingal County Council Pass Motion for the Regularisation of Undocumented Migrants


Fingal County Council unanimously passed a motion on Monday 12th March to support the introduction for an Earned Regularisation Scheme for undocumented migrants in Ireland.


The motion was proposed by Councillor Cian O' Callaghan who pointed out the practical and reasonable solution offered by such a scheme. It drew cross party support and the Councillors acknowledged the plight of undocumented migrant workers.

Domestic Workers Demand Dignity

Migrant Domestic Workers Call on the Government to Ratify ILO Convention and Recognise their Work.


Hundreds of migrant women employed as domestic workers in Ireland are demanding their dignity on International Women's Day.


The Domestic Workers Acton Group (DWAG) is calling on the State to protect vulnerable women workers and to ratify international laws that recognise rights for domestic workers. DWAG and SIPTU are calling on Minister Bruton to make a public commitment to bring national laws in line with the requirements of the ILO Convention to address exploitation in this sector.

Primetime highlights need for action on modern day slavery

Primetime highlights the lack of protections for victims of forced labour and the urgent need for the government to address gaps in legislation which leave victims living in limbo for many years.


Speaking on Primetime, David Stanton, TD & Chairperson of the Committee for Justice, Equality and Defence said forced labour was ‘evil and needs to be stamped out'. He said that the government was taking it very seriously and ‘will act with urgency' when Minister Shatter receives a report on forced labour shortly. Mohammad Younis a member of MRCI's Forced Labour Action Group spoke about his experiences and his ongoing struggle to receive justice.
