The Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment granted access to the General Employment Permit for Health Care Assistants in June 2021. A framework agreed with the Department of Health required the employer to offer a minimum annual remuneration of at least €27,000 based on a 39-hour working week and that the person employed will have achieved a relevant QQI Level 5 qualification in Health Care after two years employment in the State.
It is important to note that when applying for Renewal of General Employment permit for Health Care Assistant, that you met the agreed framework, by obtaining a QQI Level 5 qualification Health Care.
For Health Care Assistants who HAVE obtained the relevant Level QQI Level 5 qualification they can proceed with the standard General Employment permit renewal.
For Health Care Assistant who have NOT obtained the QQI Level 5, you need to complete this FORM and submit it through Employment Permit Online System EPOS, along with the General Employment renewal form and other supporting documents.
