Renewal of Irish Residence Permit (IRP) Card Before Christmas

By 7 October 2024October 21st, 2024No Comments

The Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) is advising individuals who plan to travel during the upcoming Christmas period and whose current permissions are about to expire to submit their renewal applications promptly.

The current processing time for renewing an IRP card is around 3 to 4 weeks, with an additional two weeks anticipated for the new card to arrive via post.

The Minister strongly encourages non-EEA applicants in the State who wish to travel over the Christmas holidays to submit their renewal applications by October 31, 2024, due to the expected surge in renewal requests during this time.

The Immigration Services Registration Office at Burgh Quay, Dublin, cannot assure that any renewal applications submitted after October 31, 2024, will be processed in time for an IRP card to be delivered for holiday travel. While every effort will be made to accommodate late submissions, timely processing cannot be guaranteed.

Submit your application online via the ISD online portal.

Please be aware that the validity period for any renewed permission will depend on the current expiry date, regardless of when the renewal application is submitted or processed.
