The Galway immigration office is experiencing a high number of applications, leading to significant delays in appointments. Currently, appointments are not available until April 2025!
Interim Measures:
While these backlogs are being resolved, there are some important points to note regarding employees with expired Irish Residence Permit (IRP) cards:
If an employee’s IRP card has expired, they are allowed to stay in the country under the same conditions as their current IRP card, including their job. The employee must show proof that they have applied for an appointment at the Galway immigration office before their IRP card expires. This also applies if they plan to change their stamp category.
All appointments in the Galway immigration office are confirmed via email.
From November 4,2024, IRP renewals for all counties, including Galway, should be submitted online via the online ISD portal.
