Excluded Categories of Employees
There are certain categories of workers who are excluded from the National Minimum Wage. These include:
- Close relatives of the employer: If you are a family member of the employer and the employer is a sole trader, you may not be entitled to the national minimum wage.
- Craft apprentices: Employees who are enrolled as apprentices under the Industrial Training Act, 1967, or the Labour of Services Act, 1987, are excluded from the minimum wage regulations.
It’s important to clarify your employment status and whether you fall under one of these categories.
